Increased amounts of immunoglobulin G (IgG)on red blood cell surfaces may lead to their premature destruction. Immune destruction of red blood cells may be seen in patients suspected of having autoimmune hemolytic anemia.This assay is more sensitive than the DAT, but tests for IgG only.
